GHK is a tripeptide (glycine-histidine-lysine) present in human plasma that declines with age and binds copper(II) with high affinity. The copper complex, GHK-Cu, is one of the most researched peptides in cosmetic and regenerative science, with an extensive dermatology literature.
How it’s studied to work
GHK-Cu is studied as a modulator of gene expression and extracellular-matrix turnover — influencing collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycan synthesis — and as a carrier that delivers copper, a cofactor for numerous repair enzymes.
